Action photography is more than just freezing motion at a bay. It is about documenting the experience of people for whom the line between passion and work is blurred. It requires knowledge of the activity, fast reflexes, composition based, sense of synchronization, so that the photographer manages to create images that tell fascinating stories for the most daring, fearless and adventurous athletes.
In the workshop, Alexandros Grymanis, Red Bull’s leading action & lifestyle photographer and collaborator, will teach you how to make your first entry into this competitive category: how to perfect your techniques by distilling the essence of extreme sports action and evolving the your style.
On the first day of the workshop the participants will be informed about the activities and the athletes they will photograph and will be properly prepared to face creatively the challenges they will face and to predict the moments that will give them strong images. The next day in the field against the backdrop of the urban environment of the city, Alex will guide them by giving personal advice on lighting, composition, camera settings, communication and collaboration with athletes. Everyone will have exclusive time to photograph in the location they want and to set up their subject by taking initiatives, just like you do in a production.
You complete the seminar the next day at school, by editing and commenting on the images and the problems that arose. At the end of the workshop, students will have photographed great action shots in the most difficult shooting conditions, but also portraits that reflect the lifestyle of athletes, making the beginning of building a portfolio that will allow them to stand out from the competition.
