The Daylight Portrait

Giorgos Ksanthopoulos

Daylight –natural sunlight- is a photographer’s biggest ally, especially in a country as sunny as Greece. During the workshop, participants will learn how to control and use it’s infinite abilities and applications in portrait fashion and wedding photography.

The first day of the seminar will be held in Greece’s unique daylight studio owned by the instructor, “White in Blue” located in Lagonissi. Initially, Constantinos will analyze his working way, the basic light principles and techniques he uses, covering issues regarding proper exposure, color temperature, direct, reflect and back light as well as handling reflectors and diffusers. The workshop will also deal with the combination of two types of lighting, natural and studio, and the methods of balancing exposure and color. Participants will then photograph their models using the theory and practices that have been taught, and during the photo the images will be reviewed and evaluated by the editor. The next day the lesson will be transferred to the school where the critical analysis of the pictures will take place and the problems encountered during the shooting will be discussed. The next day the course will be transferred to the school’s studio where the images review and discussion upon the problems encountered during the shooting will be held.

By the end of the seminar, the participants will have created their own portfolio of high quality photographs, delved deeply in advanced lighting techniques and developed their skills and confidence in order to create their way to success as professional photographers. The seminar is directed to those who wish to learn how to photograph their subjects under natural light, both beginners and more experienced photographers, who desire to sharpen their knowledge according to the last trends of applied photography.
